The Gwinnett Braves today announced the team will hold mascot auditions on Tuesday, November 18 at the Georgia Gwinnett College Atrium (1000 University Center Lane, Building B, Lawrenceville) from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Chopper, the Gwinnett Braves mascot, is a portly cartoon groundhog inspired by General Beauregard Lee, Ph.D., star of the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn.
“Chopper is a main representation of our team and our brand in the community,” said Gwinnett Braves General Manager Bruce Baldwin. “With this in mind, we are going to be looking for individuals who are entertaining, engaging, outgoing, calm under pressure and most importantly – fun!”
Fans interested in trying out for the role of Chopper should prepare a three to five minute skit, dance or act to perform in front of judges from the Gwinnett Braves and Georgia Gwinnett College. A CD player will be provided at the auditions. Following their performance, participants will be asked to react to hypothetical in-game situations. Participants must present a valid ID and be at least 16 years old to tryout.
In conjunction with the audition, the Gwinnett Braves and Georgia Gwinnett College will collect non-perishable food items for local food banks during the holiday season. Each attendee that contributes to the drive will be entered in a raffle for a Gwinnet Braves prize pack.
The Gwinnett Braves are the Triple A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. For further information on the Gwinnett Braves mascot auditions or 2009 season tickets please call 678-277-0300 or visitwww.gwinnettbraves.com
