The proposed road race known as 'Run the Reagan' got official permission today from the Gwinnett County commissioners to close a portion of the popular cross-county road for the charitable event.
“The race will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, with exact times and details to be worked out by the sponsoring organizations,” according to District 4 Commissioner Kevin Kenerly. Details will be announced closer to the event.
Sponsoring organizations include the Greater Gwinnett Road Runners, Gwinnett Community Clinic, Inc., and Gwinnett Outreach (Young Life). Race day events will include a half-marathon, 10K, 5K and one-mile fun run.
District 3 Commissioner Mike Beaudreau said, “I support this fun, healthy activity wholeheartedly and closing part of the road for a few hours is a great way to encourage it without costing taxpayers.”
