Here is what Mike Nifong, the clueless Durham District Attorney, says in his reelection campaign literature:

"I pledge to maintain the District Attorney's office with dignity and honor, and to continue to devote its efforts to the vigorous prosecution of those people whose acts most threaten our peace and safety." - Mike Nifong, District Attorney

Can you believe he said that ? Nifong is a Democrat, of course. Does this surprise you? He is also a sick joke and is virtually immune from prosecution in civil suits, being a government employee. He should be liable for defamation and malicious prosecution and unable to drive his targets into economic ruin defending themselves. South Dakota is one state currently working on changing the law regarding judicial immunity. Idiotic voters of the Durham area just renominated this character for another four year term in the recent Demoleft primary.

The first president to publicly denounce lynching : nope, not "honest" Abe Lincoln, it was Warren Harding, in Birmingham, Alabama, on October 10, 1921.

Neil Cavuto of Fox News says the oil companies make about 9 cents a gallon average profit while the government collects about 50 cents in taxes. Yet the abuse from the citizenry is directed at the oil companies while the government generally gets a pass. And at least the oil companies produce gasoline for us. Government only consumes. Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850), French philosopher and economist, describes government as "organized plunder."

Name change ? Just wondering : will the town of Oriental, North Carolina have to change its name to Asian-American, North Carolina ? I remember a couple of years back when the state of Washington banned the use of the word "Oriental" in all state business. And how about Oriental rugs ? I'd forgotten this : Earnest Hollings, the old South Carolina windbag Senator, ran for president in 1984, losing the nomination to Walter Mondale. How quickly we forget the dropouts.
