New Features to be Constructed at Bay Creek Park

Published Jun 10, 2008

The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners has approved the second phase of development of Bay Creek Park off Ozora Road in Loganville.

Phase two construction will include the addition of a 20,000 square-foot lighted skate complex, four lighted tennis courts with shade structures, two lighted half-court basketball courts, an open space area for informal play, 60-ft. picnic pavilion with grill, sand volleyball court, a third playground, two restroom buildings and additional parking. Trails connections to the existing portion of the park will also be built during this phase.

“Bay Creek Park already is a great community gathering place for the greater Grayson area,” said District 3 Commissioner Mike Beaudreau. “These additional amenities will enhance the park’s appeal even more.”

The 153-acre park, opened in 2004, already features the County’s first special-needs ball field and playground, a football field with lighted walking track, seven baseball and softball fields, a second playground and a one-mile paved trail.

Construction will begin in July with completion expected in summer 2009. The construction contract went to Reliant Construction, Inc., for $3.1 million and will be funded through the 2005 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program for parks and recreation.
