Mr. James Ronald Martin

Mr. James Ronald Martin, age 66 of Alpharetta, died May 21, 2007.  Mr. Martin was the retired Treasurer of the Georgia Department of Transportation, where he served for 34 years.  He was a long time member of Providence Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, music director and also taught Sunday School.  Mr. Martin was President of the Georgia DOT Credit Union, served on the executive board of the North Georgia School of Gospel Music and on the board of directors for Tops’l Condominium Association.  He was preceded in death by his father, Fay Martin and a sister, Rebecca Fagan.  

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Linda Martin of Alpharetta; daughters, Rhonda and Jack Lawrence of Alpharetta and Melinda and Bob Quinn of Alpharetta; mother, Juanita Martin of Cumming; sister, Nancy and Larry Vaughan of Cumming; brother, Terry and Beverly Martin of Cumming; grandchildren, Taylor Lawrence, Caitlin Quinn, Jenna Lawrence, and Trey Quinn; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church.  Rev. Gary Martin, Rev. Larry Vaughan, and Rev. Robert Martin officiating.  Interment, Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.  All North Georgia School of Gospel Music students, past and present, are invited to participate in the musical portion of the service. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church Building Fund or the North Georgia School of Gospel Music.
