Gwinnett Ballet Theatre (GBT) will open its doors for a special open house on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. This annual event welcomes returning and new dance students during a special day of studio tours, mini-performances by company dancers and an opportunity to meet the faculty.

Parents and students can learn about exciting classes in classical ballet, tap, jazz, modern and hip hop. GBT starts children on their dance education beginning at age three. The focus of this school is on the individual young dancer, and classes are kept to a small teacher-child ratio. The facility has four spacious studios covering 13,000 square feet.

This ballet school was founded in 1977 and presents its annual production of The Nutcracker with its pre-professional company and the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre Orchestra each year in the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center. This year’s production is slated for December 6-21, 2008. Students of the school are eligible to audition for this favorite holiday event which last year involved 65 of its school members in the cast.

For more information about the open house, the school or Gwinnett Ballet Theatre, please call School Director Susan DeParle at 770-978-0188. Information can also be  found at www.gwinnettballet.org. The studios are located at 2204 Fountain Square in Snellville.
