Pinckneyville Community Center Winds Down Summer with Exciting Events

Pinckneyville Park Community Center (PPCC) will offer several events to help end your summer on a high note!  Through the annual Expo, “Student Show,” and Awesome Artist contest, PPCC will be offering everything from yoga demonstrations to art exhibits to satisfy every interest. 

Pinckneyville Park Community Center (PPCC) will be holding it’s annual Expo on Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Expo features games, food, make-and-take crafts, music, a pottery sale and more. Highlights include class demonstrations in ballet, a Children’s Technology Workshop, drama, martial arts, modeling, modern jazz dance, oil painting, pottery, Yoga, and FUNdementals, which helps younger children explore the world of art. The Expo will also include the Student Show and Awesome Artist Contest. Admission is free.

Additionally, the Pinckneyville Community Center will sponsor a collaborative exhibit of two and three-dimensional work by students who have completed classes through PPCC titled “Student Show” from Aug. 3 - Oct. 24. An opening reception will be held Aug. 8 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Gallery hours are Mon. - Fri. 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., and Sun. noon-5 p.m. Twenty-three artists will be presenting in the Student Show, which will serve as a representation of the amenities PPCC offers. Participating artists are: Rita Wilms, Olga Schwartz, Michaela Mckeever, Juan Almaguer, David Gentry, Gaye Markley, Hilary Wilson, Catherine Susky, Peggy Sullens, Cheryl McKinnon, Mary Harriman, Phyllis Ingham, Murlee Mayhue, James Feeley, Linda Hull, Lea Marshall, Gia Lillie, Joyce Wood, Jane Royal, Bonnie Cataldo, Terri O’neal, Harrilee Santoro, and Sheilia Moss.

Finally, PPCC will hold the “Awesome Artist Contest” for children ages 4 - 18. Work will be on display at PPCC Aug. 26 - Sep. 7.  Artwork will be accepted at PPCC through Aug. 23, Mon. - Fri. 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sun. noon-5 p.m.. All artwork can be retrieved Sep. 8 - Oct. 1.  Artwork can be two- or three-dimensional and no larger than 16” x 20” in size. Winners will be announced at the Pinckneyville Expo, Aug. 25 at 2:30 p.m..
