Dan Miller, Southern U.S. Expert Meteorologist with AccuWeather.com reported this morning that a dome of high pressure parked over the Southeast today will keep much of the drought-ravaged region warm and dry.
Over the next few days, the high will divert moisture from the Gulf of Mexico to the west. The moisture will clash with warm air over the southern Plains, sparking showers and thunderstorms from the lower Mississippi Valley to eastern Texas.
Much of the interior Southeast continues to be in the midst of severe to exceptional drought conditions, with little or no relief in sight. The high will keep rain out of the region, while temperatures continue to climb to well above normal for mid-November.
