A Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) senior is one of five Georgians to achieve a perfect score on the April Administration of the ACT (American College Testing) college-entrance exam. Parkview High’s Siddhartha “Deep” Datta Roy earned a perfect 36 as a junior. Only 172 of some 490,000 test takers from around the world earned the highest composite score possible.

Siddhartha, or “Deep,” as he is known on the Parkview High campus, will be honored by the Gwinnett County Board of Education at their regular monthly Board meeting on September 11. Parkview High Principal Dr. Charles “Buck” Buchanan will accompany him. “Deep” will be recognized by the School Board for his achievement along with Brookwood High’s senior Donald Geldbach, who also earned a perfect score when he took the test in February. North Gwinnett High senior Jeffrey Angell also earned a perfect score in February.

The ACT college entrance exam assesses high school students’ general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The test is scored on a scale of 1 to 36. It consists of subtests in English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning. A student’s composite score is the average of the four subtest scores. The score is used by colleges and universities as a college entrance tool to predict how well students will perform at the postsecondary level.

The Gwinnett County Board of Education meeting takes place at the school system’s Instructional Support Center, 437 Old Peachtree Rd. NW, in Suwanee. The September 11 meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.

*Note: SAT and ACT scores are reported directly to students; therefore, the school system does not have a list of perfect scores but relies on student reporting. Throughout the year, students continue to take and receive results on college-admissions tests, and other students may achieve perfect scores as well.
