Parents and members of the community are invited to visit Grayson High in late June and throughout July to participate in a statewide review process of proposed curriculum materials, including textbooks, that Georgia children could use in the classroom. The Gwinnett County high school was designated by the Georgia Department of Education as the site for the congressional district 7 review.
Participants will have the opportunity to review and make comments on materials submitted for consideration by publishers. The K-5 language arts textbook review schedule is as follows:
Grayson High, Congressional District 7 site
50 Hope Hollow Road, Loganville, 30052
Monday–Friday, June 30-July 18 (July 4 holiday) 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Input from this review will be used by the state learning advisory committee as it makes recommendations to the state Board of Education. This process provides local school systems with a variety of learning resources, for each elementary and middle grades subject area, and high school state-funded courses. Each local system determines which materials best meets its particular instructional needs in meeting state and local standards.
For more information about the instructional review process, contact The Georgia Department of Education’s office of Policy and External Affairs by calling 404-463-1487.
