After Gerita Milam completed her career in the Navy, she was adapting to civilian life. One day she took her dog to an area business for grooming and upon picking up her dog, found that her pet had been injured. Shocked by the lack of professionalism and sincerity exhibited by the groomer’s staff, the incident prompted Gerita Milam to provide a safe and fun venue for dogs and as a result, she opened Carrie’s Canine Camp in Buford.
Originally set in a 100-year-old house, Ms. Milam has had to move to a new facility at 4225 South Lee Street in Buford because of the burgeoning success of her enterprise. Carrie’s is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Carrie's Canine Camp takes dogs for boarding, day care, grooming and during set times on a weekly basis, vaccinations. Take note that the Sunday time and early Monday opening is to allow for customers to bring in their dogs for boarding overnight.
To set up an appointment to bring in your dog for grooming or any of the other services that are offered, call Carrie’s Canine Camp at (770) 932-9600.
Ms. Milam’s favorite quote is “Bless the beasts and the children.” The professionalism and care that she and her experienced staff provide certainly affirms the spirit of that motto. If you are seeking a safe place for your dog to board or be groomed, the safe bet is with Carrie’s Canine Camp.
