Bank of Atlanta Opens First Gwinnett Branch

Published Sep 13, 2007

Bank of Atlanta will open its first metro area branch in Duluth in March 2008 at Sugarloaf Centre, a 22-acre mixed-use project being built at the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway and Satellite Boulevard. Currently, Bank of Atlanta is serving its Gwinnett-area customers from a temporary branch, located at 2250 Satellite Boulevard, Suite 110.

The new branch will be Bank of Atlanta’s second one in Georgia, and the first located outside of Atlanta city limits.

“We are delighted about our banking expansion into Gwinnett County,” said John W. (J.J.) Jackson, president and CEO of Bank of Atlanta. “It’s a thriving economic area with a lot of warmth and small-town charm. We look forward to becoming an integral part of the community, helping local businesses grow and residents to achieve their financial goals.”

The branch will be run by Noble Jones, who was recently promoted to president of Bank of Atlanta, Gwinnett County. A 26-year veteran of the banking industry, Jones previously was executive vice president, director of commercial lending for Bank of Atlanta. Before that, he was senior vice president, commercial banking for Wachovia Bank and held a similar position with SouthTrust Bank prior to Wachovia’s acquisition of SouthTrust in 2004. Jones is a member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church, president of his neighborhood homeowner’s association and a volunteer for Lilburn Cooperative Ministry.

Acknowledging that Bank of Atlanta has an established base of customers in Gwinnett, Jones said, “We look forward to strengthening our current relationships and building new ones with businesses, professionals and consumers in the community.”

Bank of Atlanta opened its first branch in Midtown Atlanta in April 2006 with $60 million in funding. As of June 30, 2007, assets were $141 million. Headquartered in Midtown Atlanta, Bank of Atlanta offers a full range of loan and deposit services to commercial businesses, consumers and professionals in the metro Atlanta area.
